 No Reservations
As I write this we are in Concord, North Carolina. We have been here a week and have paid for the second week. While that is not unusual, we had only planned to stay for four days. What happened? Sometimes we need to get a city fix and this area fit our requirements so we decided to stay longer. That is why we seldom make reservations. We don't want to be tied down to a schedule.

We came to Concord because it was close to Charlotte, a city we had never visited before. We picked the Fleetwood Raceway RV Resort because the description in the Trailer Life Campground Directory sounded like something we would like and it was relatively close to Charlotte. We haven't even ventured to Charlotte yet and we might not get there. We are just having fun where we are.

We are only a mile or so from a huge mall full of factory stores (Concord Mills) and an AMC 24 cinema theater. There were so many movies we had wanted to see and with the theater so close we are really catching up. So far we have seen Serendipity, Bandits and Don't Say a Word. We are going to see one a day for the rest of this week.

We also like it here because there are so many great restaurants. We discovered Castaldi's Saturday and had a yummy Italian dinner. All of our favorite chains are here too like Applebees, Subway, TGI Fridays, Shoney's, Max and Erma's, and our newest favorite, BD's Mongolian BBQ. We had hoped we could find that BBQ here since they are near universities. So far we have enjoyed that restaurant in Tempe, Arizona; Okemos, Michigan, and now here. The above restaurants are places where we can find lots of legal foods for our new Weight Watchers program.

Other things we look for in an area is a Wal Mart, a good grocery store, a library and something new to see. We toured something new here but I can't tell you about it yet because it is also our Mystery Picture.

Anyway, we like to feel free to change our tentative plans when the mood strikes us and we are glad that we are not reserved tightly. Yes, we reserve once in a while---when it is for something important. Last summer when we were planning the vacation with Kristopher and James we  made reservations so they wouldn't miss out due to a full campground in national parks. We  have also made reservations for our month in West Palm Beach because it is a popular place and I didn't want to disappoint my daughter and grandson and not be there for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The rest of the time, we are free to come and go as we please.
