CHANGE OF ADDRESS AGAIN
MORE CHANGES IN THE WEB PAGE
RON HAD ANOTHER GREAT CHECK UP
WE ARE APART FOR THE FOURTH  TIME IN 10 YEARS.

This will be short because we haven’t been doing anything special. We can go a whole day without seeing a soul here in the park - - - it is that empty. But the birds are busy doing what all of God’s creatures do in the spring and it is fun to see them so full of energy. And the plants have been busy presenting their brightest spring blossoms. I love the Saguaros best because their blossoms are clustered on the top like an old woman’s hat. This is truly a glorious time of year here in the desert. Most think of a desert as being dull and dead. Not true; not here.

For fun I formatted my hard drive, but I still have problems with my computer locking up for no reason. I think it might be tired. Maybe I need a new one and will spend the next few months trying to convince the CEO (Ron) that a computer purchase would make a good write off for this year. He will probably suggest that I wait until December 31.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS AGAIN

We really feel sorry for the Escapees mail and message service. Just a few months after they sent out notices that they had gotten their own zip code and had changed our mailing address, they got word from the U.S. Postal service that a new policy mandates that our address be changed again to try to curb fraudulent uses of mail forwarding companies. From the Postal News- - -  “The changes close a loophole that previously existed by strengthening the private mailbox identification procedures and providing for the maintenance of ongoing customer lists... there will be an address format change so that correspondents will know they are dealing with the holder of a private mailbox (PMB) at a specific street address and not an occupant of a “suite” or “apartment.” We also had to submit new forwarding forms with photo ID. If we were to do anything illegal through our address, they would know what we look like. It is a good idea, just
unfortunate that the Post Office didn’t let Escapees know this was coming when we made the other change.

So here then is our new address effective immediately;

MORE CHANGES IN THE WEB PAGE

Just recently I completely changed the OUR HOUSE HAS WHEELS section of our web page. I took out all of the newspaper articles since those topics are covered in our book and am in the process of adding stories from our old newsletter (the paper one we did for 8 years). First of all I have added all the stories from the ends of chapters in our first book, An Alternative Lifestyle. Since that book is out of print and since so many of you have said that you loved those stories, they are now on the web. From the table of contents page of that book, I have links to all the stories. Take your pick.

Secondly, I am working on adding all of the newsletter stories starting with the October 1990 issue. These newsletters have been out of print for a long time and we think you will like seeing how we began our full-timing life, where we went, and what we did. We are only including the major stories, Potpourri and This and That. Coffee Break is already on the web and so are all of the recipes. We are not including any of the letters pages. And because things change we are not including the Campground reports or the Good Places to Eat columns.

The banners of our newsletter changed as we changed equipment and the appropriate banner will appear with each issue so you can see which motorhome we were living in at the time. So far I have October, November and December 1990 posted. I will do a few more a month depending on how much time I have to do such things.

One of the things that helped me be able to do this was our new purchase of a flat bed scanner. I wanted to add the photos that appeared in the stories which were taken with a regular (non digital) camera. This is fun and we hope you enjoy reading these stories. Please let us know what you think.

RON HAD ANOTHER GREAT CHECK UP and his PSA is within normal limits. We hope this is encouraging news for all who have medical problems especially those who have been shocked as we were in 1994. Ron has done a good job outliving the doctor’s predictions.

WE ARE APART FOR ONLY THE FOURTH  TIME IN 10 YEARS and this time will be the
longest separation. Ron, of course will be busy with family and I will be out of it after Monday and for a couple of weeks. We will survive, but it is tough because we are generally inseparable. I will do one more quick newsletter the end of May just before we head out of here so you can watch for us on the road.  Happy Trails wherever you go this summer.
