Spicy
Oatmeal Praline Cake

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons dark molasses
1 cup water
1-1/2 cups flour
1 cup oats
1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Mix eggs, shortening and sugars until fluffy. Alternately add the dry
and wet ingredients. Pour into greased 13x9x2 cake pan and bake at 350
degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Topping
1/4 cup melted butter
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 chopped nuts
3 tablespoons cream or milk
Spread topping on baked cake and broil under the broiler until golden
and bubbly. |
